Mediation on Reopening Elementary School
School District of Lee County Supt. Denise Carlin refuses to attend a mediation meeting at Fort Myers Beach Town Hall.
Instead, she will attend a mediation session with the Town Council at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Bonita Springs on Nov. 5.
The location change occurred after private negotiations between Town Manager Will McKannay, the town's attorneys, and the school district.
The Town of Fort Myers Beach Council voted to initiate mediation to force the school district to reopen the Fort Myers Beach Elementary School.
The mediation session aims to resolve the dispute over the school's reopening.
