Upper Holmesburg Civic Association Supports Local 22 Move
The Upper Holmesburg Civic Association (UHCA) has voted 25-4 in favor of a use variance request by IAFF Local 22, the union for Philadelphia firefighters and paramedics, to move to 9189-91 Torresdale Ave.
Local 22, currently located at 415 N, is seeking to relocate to the former Lincoln Technical Institute building, which is zoned for industrial use. The union has made a contingent purchase of the property, located on the southeast corner of Torresdale and Linden.
According to Mike Bresnan, the three-term president of the union, the current 10,000-square-foot building is too small, with a parking lot that has less than 30 spaces. Local 22 plans to sell the existing building.
A Zoning Board of Adjustment hearing is scheduled for January to discuss the use variance request.
Local 22 is seeking to move to a new location to address its space and parking needs.
