Works on the new Romsey Skatepark are finally underway after 11 years of planning.
A key driver of the project, the Lancefield Romsey Lions Club, celebrated the milestone as demolition works began.
“It is really exciting that it has reached this stage because of the number of people who have put in work to make it happen,”
said long-serving Lions member Ged McLaughlin.
The community began campaigning for a new skatepark in 2014, and although it's sad to see the old one go, it's time to move on.
Romsey-based Newearth Constructions started clearing the site and has donated its labour to help make up for a funding shortfall.
