Mexican Authorities Suspect Jalisco Cartel in Mayor's Killing
Mexican authorities believe that Carlos Manzo, the mayor of Uruapan, was killed by the Jalisco Cartel, according to a report.
The mayor was slain in the city center last week. A source familiar with the investigation linked the killing to the capture of a local leader, Rene Belmonte, also known as Rino, by police in August.

- Violence increased in the region after the arrest, including attacks on local police officers.
A source said that the gunman, a young man between 17 and 19 years old, was connected to the cartel and was killed immediately after the shooting.
