Around 200 collision blackspots in borough – but only one or two a year can be made safer!

Traffic-Collision Blackspots in Southern Division

There are approximately 200 identified traffic-collision blackspots in the Southern Division, but financial constraints allow for only one or two to be made safer per year.

According to Cindy Noble, acting divisional roads manager for the Southern Division at the Department for Infrastructure (DfI), one such hazardous spot is the Scarva Road/Lisnagade Road junction outside Scarva, which is to be modified to enhance safety.

The information was revealed at the monthly meeting of Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon (ABC) Borough Council on October 27.

The details were presented as part of DfI Roads Southern Division’s Annual Report 2025-26.

Author's summary: Financial constraints limit safety improvements.
