Major Shake-Up at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement
The Department of Homeland Security is overhauling the leadership of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) by reassigning up to 12 field directors.
This move is due to frustration over the agency's inability to meet its deportation targets, with ICE averaging around 1,100 arrests daily, far below the target of 3,000 undocumented immigrants per day.
According to senior DHS officials, many of the replaced field directors will be shifted laterally, with senior agents from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) taking their place.
