Ag Groups React to Beef Import Proposal
In an effort to bring down prices for American consumers, President Donald Trump proposed that the United States could purchase Argentinian beef.
President Trump spoke to reporters aboard Air Force One, saying:
We would buy some beef from Argentina. If we do that, that will bring our beef prices down.
Agriculture organizations expressed concerns over the proposal, prompting Trump to defend himself on social media, stating that his tariffs have benefited cattle ranchers.
Trump posted on Truth Social:
The Cattle Ranchers, who I love, don’t understand that the only reason they are doing so well, for the first time in decades, is because I put Tariffs on cattle coming into the United States, including a 50% Tariff on Brazil.
