A weather alert has been issued by the National Weather Service for strong thunderstorms in Central West Florida on Monday.
The alert, issued at 4:59 p.m., is in effect until 5:45 p.m. and covers Polk, Hillsborough, Hernando, Pasco, and Sumter counties.
Residents can expect pea-sized hail and gusts of up to 40 mph.
