Global PAH data shows rising cases and risk factors in elderly

Global PAH Data Reveals Rising Cases in Elderly Population

According to a recent study, cases of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) have increased worldwide among older adults from 1990 to 2021, primarily due to growing aging populations.

The study, published in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, found that elderly women face the highest risk of death from PAH.

Our findings provided a novel global perspective on the temporal trends of PAH burden in the elderly population and identify gaps in various aspects of prevention, management, and intervention strategies for PAH.

The research highlights the need for better prevention and treatment strategies for PAH in the elderly population.

Author's summary: PAH cases rise in elderly due to aging populations.
