The second "No Kings" protest in Salt Lake City has concluded, and organizers are reflecting on its success and planning future actions.
Jamie Carter, one of the organizers, acknowledged the pressure to create a peaceful atmosphere at the Utah Capitol on October 18, where protesters gathered to demonstrate against President Donald Trump and his administration.
Organizers were aware of the risks, given two recent instances of deadly political violence in Utah: the death of fashion designer Afa Ah Loo on June 14, who was killed by an errant shot from an armed security guard during a No Kings march, and the killing of political activist Charlie Kirk on September 10 during a rally at Utah Valley University in Orem.
Organizers look back, and look ahead.
Supporters can now look forward to future actions and continue to peacefully protest.
