A windstorm has cut off access to the small, remote community of Holberg on Vancouver Island's northern tip, causing a mudslide that has closed Holberg Road.
According to Dane Cameron, the Regional District of Mount Waddington's emergency program coordinator,
"The slide occurred on Northeast 60 Road at approximately the 14k mark,"which is a Western Forest Products section of road.
BC Hydro reports that 47 customers have been affected by the slide and are currently without power, including areas such as Dombie Hill Road, Victoria Road, and Radar Site Holberg.
An assessment is currently being undertaken to understand the extent of the slide, and an action plan for debris removal will be developed following the assessment.
