Holiday Tours at Hartwood Acres Canceled Due to Budget Impasse
Holiday tours of the mansion at Hartwood Acres have been canceled this year due to the ongoing state budget impasse, according to Allegheny County spokeswoman Abigail Gardner.
The cancellation is part of a spending freeze implemented by the county, which is facing a $100 million shortfall as a result of the state's lack of a budget since June 30.
“It has real impacts,”
Gardner said, explaining that the hiring and spending freezes announced in September are now having visible effects. The county has asked departments to reduce discretionary spending, and further cuts are expected.
