King's Birthday Honours: Alice Hurrell
Alice Hurrell, chief people officer at DESNZ, was awarded a CBE for public service.
It was a wonderful surprise to be recognised with an honour, I’m absolutely delighted and humbled.
Hurrell has worked in the civil service for 30 years, in various roles, departments, and agencies, starting as a casual admin assistant without a university degree.
She is the first person in her family and community to receive an honour and is the most senior person in the department, working closely with permanent secretaries as part of the Executive Committee.
