14-Year-Old Boy in Critical Condition After DUI Crash

A 14-year-old boy is in critical condition at Loma Linda University Medical Center after being struck by a DUI driver in La Quinta, according to his family.

The incident occurred on October 10th at the intersection of Highway 111 and Adams St. Thermal Sheriff's deputies responded to the collision and found two juveniles who had been hit by a car while riding their bikes.

One of the boys, Liam Cantu, a freshman at La Quinta High School, was seriously injured in the crash. His parents, Jennifer Perez and Jesus Cantu, spoke exclusively to News Channel 3 about the incident.

They immediately called us and told us that my son was hit by a drunk driver or a car crash.

The family is now waiting for Liam's condition to improve, with his parents saying
