Poultry Water Quality and Biofilm Formation

Poultry growers should regularly inspect their water lines, as water quality can impact microbial populations and lead to biofilm buildup.

A new study reveals that biofilm, a thin layer of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats, can harbor pathogenic bacteria like Salmonella, regardless of water quality.

“If you have good water quality, that doesn’t mean you don’t want to understand what’s in your water lines and in the biofilm,”
