The Montreal Canadiens agreed to a new contract extension with Lane Hutson on Monday, ahead of their home opener against the Seattle Kraken.
According to Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun, the contract signed by Connor McDavid influenced not only Hutson but also Canadiens management in sticking to their plan and salary structure.
Pierre LeBrun told Gino Reda on TSN's That's Hockey: "it was the contract signed by Connor McDavid that really influenced not only Hutson, but also Canadiens management"
Gino Reda noted that the contract seems to be "team-friendly" despite being big money.
The deal comes after new contracts were signed by Luke Hughes of the New Jersey Devils and Jackson LaCombe of the Anaheim Ducks, which some thought might influence Hutson's negotiations.
