Washington State Coach Reflects on Poorly Timed Play

Injuries are piling up for the Cougars, and other WSU football notes are making headlines. After a critical tackle by defensive end Isaac "Bobby" Terrell, the Cougars had a chance to win or extend the game.

Trailing by a field goal with no timeouts, WSU quarterback Zevi Eckhaus handed the ball to running back Kirby Vorhees, who gained 6 yards. However, 21 seconds slipped off the clock before WSU could run another play.

"We felt like with them being in the coverage that they were in, we could spike a first down, you know, and get our guys on the ball fast enough."

WSU coach Jimmy Rogers expressed regret over the first-down play call. The Cougars were unable to cash in twice against the SEC's first-place defense.

Author's summary: Coach Rogers regrets a poorly timed play call.
