Intel has announced a new AI chip for data centers, marking a renewed push into the AI silicon market.
The new chip, a GPU called Crescent Island, will be optimized for energy efficiency and support various uses, including running AI applications and inference.
“It emphasises that focus that I talked about earlier, inference, optimised for AI and optimised for delivering the best token economics out there, the best performance per dollar out there,”said Intel Chief Technology Officer Sachin Katti at the Open Compute Summit.
This move is Intel's latest attempt to capitalize on the AI spending frenzy that has generated billions in revenue for AMD and Nvidia.
