Vicksburg’s Bicentennial Time Capsule to Be Unearthed

Vicksburg officials will open a 50-year-old time capsule as part of the city's bicentennial celebration at the Warren County Courthouse.

Fifty years ago, Peggy Sue Fulghum watched history unfold as a time capsule was buried during the nation's bicentennial celebration. Now, she and her daughter, Jennifer Fulghum Lewis, will witness its unearthing at 12:30 p.m. on October 17.

"I am so glad my daughter is going to be able to come, since she was the youngest one to sign,"

Fulghum referred to a Bicentennial scroll created by the Vicksburg Bicentennial Commission as a fundraiser. The event will be held at the Warren County courthouse, 1009 Cherry St.
