Row K has released a new trailer for director Gus Van Sant’s upcoming crime drama Dead Man’s Wire. The movie takes inspiration from a true series of kidnappings that unfolded in the 1970s.
The film stars Bill Skarsgård and Dacre Montgomery in leading roles. Supporting cast members include Elizabeth Debicki, Scoot McNairy, and Shea Whigham.
Dead Man’s Wire follows two small-time radio enthusiasts who become entangled in a dangerous criminal plot after intercepting a distress call. What begins as a harmless curiosity evolves into a high-stakes mystery involving deception, power, and survival.
Gus Van Sant, known for works such as Good Will Hunting and Elephant, brings his trademark realism and emotional intensity to the project. The cinematography combines vintage tones with a modern edge, while the soundtrack reflects the paranoia and chaos of the late 1970s.
“It’s a story about how obsession with communication can destroy the very connections we try to make,”
— Gus Van Sant
The film is scheduled for theatrical release early next year through Row K Pictures, with international distribution expected to follow.
