On-street parking restriction

On-street parking restriction

The City of Westminster has implemented a new on-street parking restriction in the borough to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion.

The new restriction will prohibit parking on certain streets during peak hours, Monday to Friday, from 7am to 9am and 4pm to 6pm.

The aim of the restriction is to reduce the number of parked cars on the road and prevent congestion, which can lead to air pollution and decreased air quality.

Councillor Philippa Roe, leader of the City of Westminster, said:

"We want to ensure that our streets are safe and accessible for everyone. By introducing this new restriction, we hope to reduce congestion and improve air quality."

Residents and businesses in the affected areas have been consulted on the proposal, and the council has agreed to provide alternative parking options for those who will be affected by the restriction.

Resident Jane Smith said:

"I understand the need to reduce congestion, but I'm worried about the impact on local businesses. I hope the council will provide adequate alternative parking options."

The new restriction will be enforced by parking attendants and CCTV cameras, and drivers who park in restricted areas will face fines of up to £1,000.

The City of Westminster is committed to reducing traffic congestion and improving air quality in the borough, and this new restriction is part of a larger strategy to achieve this goal.
