Celebrations as people in Paris celebrate their first day of freedom after 56 days of lockdown

Parisians flocked to the streets, parks and cafes to celebrate the end of 56 days of lockdown in the city.

Bars and restaurants were packed as people enjoyed a welcome drink with friends and family, while others strolled through the streets, enjoying the warm sunshine.

As the city returned to normal life, people were seen embracing and laughing together, a stark contrast to the gloom of the previous months.

“It's a great feeling to be out and about, to be able to walk through the streets and enjoy the city with my friends and family," said one Parisian.

“We're not taking anything for granted, we know how quickly things can change, but for now, we're just enjoying the freedom and the joy of being together," said another.
