The largest running event in Ireland is set to return in 2026. Just weeks after the 2025 Irish Life Dublin Marathon concluded, attention has already turned to next year’s race. More than 22,000 participants filled the streets of Dublin this year, and similar numbers are expected for the upcoming edition.
For 2026, several updates have been made to the registration process, including the launch of a new ballot system. The previous 48-hour priority entry period, which allowed runners from the current year to register early for the next marathon, has been discontinued.
Despite the change, returning athletes are still valued. Those entering the ballot will be able to indicate whether they have participated in the Dublin Marathon any time since 2016.
The early access previously available to women who completed the Irish Life Dublin Half Marathon will now be incorporated into the general ballot. Organisers aim to boost the number of women taking part, hoping the new approach will achieve stronger results than before.
