The Boyle post office is set to relocate early next year to a new site in the town. An Post confirmed that Paul Kelly Jr. from Kelly’s SuperValu Boyle has accepted the company’s offer to operate the post office.
The existing office on Shop Street will move to a unit within Kelly’s SuperValu at the SuperValu Shopping Centre on Elphin Street, approximately 450 meters from the current site. The new facility is scheduled to open on February 3rd.
Late last year, An Post engaged the auctioneering firm Cushman Wakefield to manage the sale of 14 town centre properties, including the Boyle building, which was listed for €130,000. At the time of the sale, An Post emphasized that the post office would continue operating in Boyle.
“When we placed the former post office on the market, it was on the understanding that it would continue as a post office. However, one can never rule out a new contractor stepping down, as occurred here, though new applicants generally prefer a change of location,” said a spokesperson for An Post.
“That’s what happened here, and we were fortunate to secure a great new site that allows us to offer a modern facility for the people of Boyle.”
The Boyle post office will relocate to Kelly’s SuperValu on Elphin Street in February, ensuring continued local service under new postmaster Paul Kelly Jr.
