The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced on Thursday, November 6, 2025, the ordination of Gérald Caussé as the newest member of its Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
Caussé, originally from Bordeaux, France, has served as the church’s presiding bishop for the past 10 years. In this role, he has overseen humanitarian aid, welfare programs, tithing and fast offerings, physical facilities, and the organization of membership records. Prior to that, he was a counselor in the Presiding Bishopric from 2012 to 2015 and a General Authority Seventy from 2008 to 2012.
Gérald Caussé becomes the fourth member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles born outside the United States. He joins Dieter F. Uchtdorf from the Czech Republic, Ulisses Soares from Brazil, and Patrick Kearon from England.
