Canon has introduced the EOS R6 Mark III, a new full-frame camera boasting higher resolution and improved performance over its predecessor. The camera now offers 32.5 megapixels, a significant increase from the 24 megapixels of the EOS R6 Mark II.
The EOS R6 Mark III features a newly developed sensor paired with the DIGIC X processor from the previous model. This combination enables faster readout speeds while maintaining a continuous shooting rate of 40 frames per second with the electronic shutter, despite the increased resolution.
Significant enhancements in autofocus make the R6 Mark III more capable of recognizing complex subjects. The system now reliably identifies trains, airplanes, and horses, and better distinguishes between similar animals such as cats and dogs.
The built-in image stabilizer can compensate for up to 8.5 stops when using the electronic shutter. Video capabilities have also been expanded, though specific new features were not detailed.
“The buffer for RAW images has been expanded to accommodate up to 150 RAW images.”
“Autofocus is said to work reliably down to -6.5 EV.”
Author's summary: The Canon EOS R6 Mark III brings significant upgrades in resolution, autofocus, and shooting speed, enhancing both photography and video performance for demanding users.
