Academy players prepare for Remembrance Sunday

In the lead-up to Remembrance Sunday, Wolves Academy players have been honoring the memory of those who served and learning about the club’s wartime history.

Commemorative activities at Compton Park

Last Friday, the under-12 squad planted a tree at Compton Park to honor former Wolves players who took part in the First and Second World Wars. Vicar Anne Martin attended the ceremony as the young players recited the names of the fallen and read a poem expressing their feelings toward the occasion.

"The moment of reflection provided an appropriate end to a week of events surrounding Remembrance for the group."

Week of remembrance and learning

The project was held in conjunction with the Premier League’s annual Christmas Day Truce initiative, which encourages young players to understand and reflect on history during this meaningful time of year.

"It's really important that we're looking after them as potential players, but also nice, super rounded people. That's really important to us and the boys have worked really hard on this project." — Natalie Deakin, Head of Education, Wolves Academy
