Erika Kirk shared an emotional account of the moment she collapsed upon learning that her husband, conservative activist Charlie Kirk, had been shot during a public event in Utah.
In an interview, Erika recalled how a phone call from Charlie's chief of staff, Mike McCoy, shattered her world. She was with her mother at a medical appointment on the morning of September 10 when McCoy called in panic.
"He was shouting, 'Charlie's been shot! He's been shot!'"
Erika rushed out of the clinic and collapsed in the parking lot, describing the experience as an "unbelievable nightmare."
Reports indicate that Mike McCoy fled the scene shortly after the shooting. Erika said McCoy urged her to come to the scene quickly, stating the shooter had hit her husband before allegedly leaving the campus area.
Erika claimed McCoy had "fled" the campus site.
This detail has raised concerns about the staffer's response and the security measures at the event.
Erika Kirk’s harrowing account highlights both the personal trauma following the shooting of Charlie Kirk and emerging questions about event security and staff conduct.
