Hilary Duff shared insights about her experience on the Disney Channel show Lizzie McGuire and discussed where the characters Lizzie and Gordo ended up after the series during an interview on the Therapuss podcast.
During the November 5 episode, Duff, 38, talked with podcaster Jake Shane, 26, about her new song "Mature" and reminisced about her time on the iconic series that aired from 2001 to 2004.
“I loved it. I had the best time.”
She emphasized the show's success, noting it “broke all of their records” on Disney Channel, and influenced the structure of later series.
Duff detailed the production approach for Disney shows at the time, explaining it was “complicated” to grasp back then but involved a strict formula of episode orders and budgets.
“They just ordered a certain amount of episodes, and that was what they did for their shows. They spent this amount of money, they had this amount of order, and they stuck to that formula for all of those shows.”
She recalled intense shooting schedules, mentioning, “I think one year we shot 30 episodes in one year, and maybe the next one was 35 episodes in one year.”
Regarding the romantic storyline, Duff indicated that Lizzie and Gordo didn’t officially become a couple after the show's finale.
“I think they had maybe an almost thing post. In my mind, I like to think she had a thing with Ethan Craft [Clayton Snyder], finally.”
She added that Gordo “is always there to pick up her pieces still,” suggesting a lasting supportive friendship between the characters.
Hilary Duff fondly recalls the success and demanding production of Lizzie McGuire, clarifying the characters' post-show relationships with nuanced insights.
