A significant pattern shift is bringing the first blast of cold air this season to Marquette, Michigan, and surrounding areas. Multiple weather disturbances will affect the region, starting tonight.
Tonight, expect light rain moving from west to east, clearing by tomorrow morning. Scattered lake-effect rain showers will continue through midday Friday, transitioning late to light lake-effect snow showers in the northwest belts. Snow accumulation will be minor, around a quarter to half an inch.
This weekend marks the arrival of cold Canadian air as a deep trough in the jet stream moves into the Upper Midwest, accompanied by an area of low pressure. This setup will bring the first accumulating snow of the season on Sunday, mainly light lake-effect snow across the northern and northwest wind belts.
