Claressa Shields, who calls herself the Greatest Woman of All Time (GWOAT), announced Thursday that she signed the most lucrative multi-fight promotional contract in the history of women's boxing.
The agreement, valued at a minimum of $8 million for four fights over two years, is expected to make Shields the highest-paid female boxer ever. Included is a $3 million signing bonus. Dmitriy Salita, the promoter, indicated the total value could increase depending on ticket sales and event success.
Shields has been with Salita Promotions since early in her professional career, first signing when she was 2-0 in 2017. The new deal continues this partnership while adding Wynn Records as a co-promoter. Wynn Records is connected to Shields’ boyfriend, New York rapper Shamele “Papoose” Mackie, who acts as the label’s creative director.
Shields tested the market recently as a free agent for the first time, gaining better insight into her value in the sport.
