Huge cleanup effort underway in Pine Valley after severe flash flooding from burn scar

Flash Flooding Hits Pine Valley After Forsyth Fire

Pine Valley, Utah, is facing a new threat of floods after the Forsyth Fire burned over 15,000 acres and 13 homes. The area recently experienced severe flash flooding from Hurricane Priscilla.

According to Pine Valley Fire Chief Robert Hardy, the flooding reached five feet deep and 400 feet wide in areas of the burn scar. The depleted soil was unable to absorb the rain, leading to the flooding.

“Right now, the mountain soils can’t handle it, so even a normal rainstorm can cause massive flooding,”

said Hardy. A huge cleanup effort is currently underway in the affected areas.
