A documentary film about Jacinda Ardern offers a masterclass on authenticity in politics. In the film, Ardern reflects on her rapid rise to prime minister, stating
she had “no time to redesign myself […] I could only be myself”, highlighting her commitment to authenticity.
Authenticity in politics is complex and often a performance, filtered through news and social media. Skilled politicians understand this and use it to their advantage.
