The Charleston County Planning Commission has narrowly approved a rezoning application for Storybook Farm, a family-owned horse farm on Johns Island, to build 100 new townhomes.
The farm, currently zoned Low-Density Residential, spans 10.86 acres. The application was first submitted in April 2025 but was unanimously disapproved by county staff and the commission due to density and affordability concerns.
"This came before you this year, and it was denied because it was too dense, too tall, not enough affordable housing,"
said Joseph Tecklenburg, representing the owners. The new plan aims to address these issues.
The approval marks a significant step forward in the rezoning process.
