Brazilian wildlife authorities made a massive bust, arresting 45 people and saving hundreds of exotic animals, in an effort to combat animal trafficking.
According to reports, the bust rescued hundreds of animals, including toucans, macaws, tortoises, monkeys, and a python.
'Sheer brutality'
The operation involved over 1,000 law enforcement officials across Rio de Janeiro and was described as "the largest operation in Brazil's history to combat the trafficking of wild animals, weapons, and ammunition."
The gang had operated for decades, allegedly responsible for the mass hunting of wild animals for trafficking, with one part specializing in hunting, drugging, and trafficking monkeys.
