Dieselgate Trial Begins
A historic High Court case has started, with 1.6 million UK motorists seeking justice against major carmakers over alleged emissions cheating.
A lawsuit against five leading carmakers, including Mercedes-Benz, Ford, Renault-Nissan, and Peugeot-Citroen, has begun in the High Court in London.
- The case involves 1.6 million vehicle owners who claim their diesel vehicles were equipped with software designed to manipulate pollution results.
- The court will hear allegations of the use of 'prohibited defeat devices (PDDs)' or cheat devices in certain diesel models.
The case is the largest group claim in English and Welsh legal history.
