This week, the Clarksburg I-270 boys junior basketball team experienced a wonderful surprise when Paige Bueckers, WNBA Rookie of the Year and former UConn standout, stepped in to coach the team on Wednesday evening.
Bob Bueckers, an assistant coach of the team, was unable to attend due to illness. He called in backup in the form of his daughter, Paige, who happened to be in town for a UConn game in Annapolis. Brandon Childers, Area Director for Clarksburg I-270, remarked:
“When Bob Bueckers calls out sick and his daughter Paige comes to cover for the Clarksburg I-270 boys junior team.”
For the Clarksburg players, having such a high-profile athlete lead their drills was an unforgettable experience and a dream come true.
