Plane Crash Near Fort Worth's Hicks Airfield
A twin-engine plane that departed from Alliance Airport crashed near Hicks Airfield in Fort Worth, resulting in the deaths of two people and igniting a fire that damaged at least ten semi-trucks.
The crash occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. in the 12700 block of N. Saginaw Blvd., near Avondale, and was confirmed by the Fort Worth Fire Department. Multiple semi-trucks were on fire at the time of the crash, and two individuals were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The plane, identified as a King Air Twin Engine Aircraft, had departed from Alliance Airport. The crash and subsequent fire damaged at least ten tractor trailers and sparked grass fires, all of which were contained. The fire was brought under control within 35 minutes, by 2:11 p.m.
The Fort Worth Fire Department responded with significant resources, dispatching 10 firetrucks, 14 support vehicles, and three ambulances to the location.
