After netting 21 goals last season, the 33-year-old veteran winger Brendan Gallagher is experiencing a dry spell in front of the goal this season. Last year, he ranked third in goals on the Canadiens, behind Cole Caufield with 37 and Nick Suzuki with 30.
Following Tuesday night’s 5-4 shootout defeat to the Philadelphia Flyers, Gallagher remained scoreless in 13 games this season. In contrast, he had five goals after 13 games and seven after 15 games last year. Despite the goal drought, Gallagher has contributed seven assists during those 13 games.
The significance of Gallagher's current scoring slump is the focus of a Hockey Inside/Out bonus episode. Stu Cowan of The Gazette discusses this with former Canadiens teammates and 1986 Stanley Cup champions Chris Nilan and Rick Green.
Additional bonus episodes will be available in the coming days. For those interested, subscribing to the Hockey Inside/Out YouTube channel is recommended.

Author's summary: Brendan Gallagher's goal-scoring has dipped this season, but his overall contribution and experience remain valuable to the Canadiens beyond just points on the scoreboard.
