A severe fire broke out at an off-campus apartment complex in Amherst on Friday evening, displacing more than 200 individuals, primarily University of Massachusetts Amherst students. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The fire was first reported just after 8 p.m. at Olympia Place and affected multiple buildings. It began at a four-story building under construction at 47 Olympia Drive and quickly spread to 57 Olympia Drive because of strong winds and the intensity of the blaze.

Response efforts were challenged by poor water pressure in the area, limiting firefighters' ability to fully access the blaze.

"More than 200 people were displaced, many who were students, but no injuries were reported," according to the university.
