The Indiana Pacers, holding a 1-7 record, will face the 6-2 Denver Nuggets on Saturday night as they aim for their second win of the season. The matchup tips off at 9 p.m. and marks the beginning of a four-game road trip for Indiana.
The Pacers are coming off a 112-103 loss to the Brooklyn Nets, who were previously winless before their Wednesday victory. Meanwhile, the Nuggets ride a three-game winning streak, highlighted by a 129-104 win over the Golden State Warriors on Friday.
Last season, Indiana and Denver split their two meetings 1-1. Before Indiana’s 125-120 victory on April 6, the Pacers had dropped nine consecutive games to the Nuggets. They now aim to build on that win against the current No. 4 seed in the Western Conference.
The primary update on Indiana’s side concerns guard Andrew Nembhard. He sustained a shoulder injury during the Pacers’ season opener against the Oklahoma City Thunder and has not played since. However, he is now listed as available to return against Denver.
“Nembhard’s return is fantastic news for the Pacers as they deal with numerous injuries in the backcourt.”
If Nembhard had remained unavailable, Indiana would have likely relied on recently acquired guard Monte Morris, who is also reported to be ready to play against his former team.
The Pacers begin their road trip against a strong Nuggets team, boosted by Andrew Nembhard’s long-awaited return to the lineup.
