Cristiano Ronaldo has recently expressed disappointment with Manchester United’s leadership and their failure to return the team to its former success.
"Head coach Ruben Amorim can't single-handedly turn things around."
Amorim, a former Portugal teammate of Ronaldo, admitted mistakes were made but stressed the importance of focusing on the club’s future rather than its past.
Ronaldo's comments have sparked speculation that he might buy a football club after retirement instead of pursuing a managerial role. Currently 40 and playing for Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, Ronaldo is financially well-positioned, recently becoming football’s first billionaire player according to Bloomberg.
Dean Saunders, former Liverpool striker and ex-manager of Wolves and Wrexham, suggested owning a club would suit Ronaldo better. Saunders told talkSPORT that Ronaldo likely prefers ownership for the control it offers, compared to managing a team.
"Owning a football club would appeal more to Ronaldo as it would offer him greater control than managing a team."
Ronaldo’s sharp remarks about Manchester United hint at his future ambitions, pointing towards club ownership rather than coaching.
