Several celebrities achieved great success despite not completing high school. Jeremy Allen White, star of The Bear, recently shared a touching moment involving his old teacher. She surprised him by attending the NYC premiere of his new movie, Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere.
“I wasn’t a good student because I didn’t go to school enough,” he said on the October 23 episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, referring to his time at the Professional Performing Arts School in New York City, where he never graduated.
After the premiere, his teacher gave him a gift, which turned out to be his high school diploma. Jeremy said,
“And I was like, ‘Ah, you don’t have to do this, this is crazy, what are you giving me a gift for?’ And I open it up, and it is my high school diploma. So… at 34 years old, I graduated high school!”
Nicole Kidman, who holds two Oscars, also left school before graduating and expressed regret about it. She shared on 60 Minutes,
“I’m a high school dropout, which I’m not proud to say. I had some teachers that I still think of fondly and were amazing to me.”
By age 15, Kidman was focused on becoming an actress and moved to Los Angeles to pursue her career.
These stories show that formal education is not the only path to success and that determination and passion can lead to achievement despite lacking a high school diploma.
