An accountancy apprentice from Newbury has raised over £1,000 for a young people’s charity by completing a 15,000-foot tandem skydive. Kristina Pallaiova, who works at Azets, participated in the charity event to support Bridge for Young People, the chosen charity of Azets' Newbury office that year.
Kristina jumped from an aeroplane and experienced 60 seconds of freefall at the Salisbury Skydive Centre. She described the experience as both nerve-wracking and exciting.
“Although I was nervous beforehand, once the dive started it was an exhilarating experience, especially once the ripcord had been pulled and the parachute opened. The views up there were spectacular as we gently floated back to earth – and it was especially gratifying to know that my generous sponsors would be helping such a worthwhile charity.”
This charity supports young people aged 16 to 25 who are homeless or leaving care, helping them transition to independence. They provide stable housing, emotional support, and practical assistance during this critical phase of life.
Bridge for Young People recently welcomed Heart presenter Pandora Christie as their patron during the opening of their latest home, Wessex House, on Oxford Road in Newbury.
Kristina’s fundraising effort highlights community support vital to sustaining these services.
