9News Melbourne will say goodbye to one of its most cherished figures this month as Livinia Nixon, the city's beloved weather presenter, prepares to sign off on November 18. She first joined the network in 1997 and has been the face of 9News Melbourne's weather since 2004.
The 50-year-old TV presenter shared her surprising decision on Friday, explaining her choice to focus on family as her sons enter their senior school years.
"After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I've decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them. It's been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers' homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family."
Livinia expressed deep gratitude for her career, highlighting the impact the role has had on her life.
"Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me."
She also shared a touching moment with her children:
"When I discussed it with our boys, they said, 'We're pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.'"
Though stepping down from her position as weeknight weather presenter, Livinia will continue her association with the Nine Network.
