9News favourite Livinia Nixon announces exit

Livinia Nixon Announces Departure from 9News Weather Role

After two decades, Livinia Nixon will step down as the 9News Melbourne weather presenter, though she will remain involved in other Nine Network programs.

Having joined Nine in 1997 and taken on the Melbourne weather role since 2004, Nixon cited her family as the reason for this change. Her final weather broadcast will be on Tuesday, 18 November.

“It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.”

Nixon explained that with her two sons entering their senior school years, she wants to devote more time to supporting them.

“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them.”

Although she is leaving her nightly weather presenting duties, Nixon will continue appearing on Nine's travel shows Getaway and Postcards.

“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me.”
“When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’ I’m thrilled to be staying with Nine and will be continuing my roles on Getaway and Postcards.”

Summary

Livinia Nixon is stepping back from her 20-year weather presenter role to focus on family, while maintaining her presence in Nine’s travel programs.
