Channel Nine is facing a significant change as longtime weathergirl Livinia Nixon announces her departure from 9News Melbourne. After 20 years delivering the weather forecast, Nixon has decided to take a step back to focus on her family.
She shared in a statement,
“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them. It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.”
Livinia referenced her sons, Henry and Ted, and added,
“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me. When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’”
Livinia first joined the Nine network in 1997, gaining popularity during her time on Hey Hey It’s Saturday, where she appeared alongside game show legend Daryl Somers. She will remain with the network and continue to present on popular travel programs.
She expressed enthusiasm for her ongoing roles, stating,
“I’m thrilled to be staying with Nine and will be continuing my roles on Getaway and Postcards.”
After a rewarding 20-year career as Nine’s trusted weather presenter, Livinia Nixon is stepping back to prioritize her family while continuing to contribute to the network's travel shows.
