While the much-anticipated sequel Avengers: Doomsday is still more than a year away, today was originally set for the release of an even bigger Marvel event. Disney planned to bring one of its flagship franchises back to theaters with a highly anticipated sequel promising a new direction for the saga.
At San Diego Comic-Con 2022, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed an impressive slate for the coming years. The presentation included footage from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. More notably, Feige announced two new Avengers films slated for 2025.

What was once almost three years away is now even further off, with Avengers: Secret Wars rescheduled to December 17, 2027. The change followed a major shift in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, notably the severing of ties with Kang, the antagonist played by Jonathan Majors. This development forced Marvel to reconsider and redirect the storyline.
The highly awaited Avengers: Secret Wars has faced significant delays and creative shifts, pushing its release to 2027 after changes in casting and story direction.
