Award-winning actor Ethan Hawke made a distinctive entrance to Miami, arriving not as a typical tourist but dressed in an espresso brown suit with crimson glasses on the red carpet.
At this year’s Miami Film Festival GEMS, hosted at Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus, Hawke was honored with the Virtuoso Award. He also engaged in a conversation with Ramin Setoodeh, presented by Variety.
The Virtuoso Award acknowledges Hawke’s accomplishments over his three-decade-long career in film. Despite the prestige, Hawke views the award not as just another trophy but as motivation to continue his craft.
“You just want another chance to keep playing. I’m most interested in what I’m going to do tomorrow,” Hawke said.
Hawke’s first role was Ben Crandall in the film Explorers. At 14, he initially felt like a failure after its reception and even doubted the praise he received for Dead Poets Society. However, he now reflects on his career with gratitude and positivity.
“It’s not every day that someone truly appreciates and is still passionate about their career decades into doing it,” Hawke said, showing his continued inspiration from the world around him.
Ethan Hawke’s Miami Film Festival appearance highlights his enduring passion for acting and appreciation for his long and evolving career.
