Canon EOS R6 Mark III Review

The Canon EOS R6 Mark III is a mid-range full-frame mirrorless camera that succeeds the EOS R6 Mark II from 2023. This new model features a 32.5-megapixel CMOS sensor, offering a 25% increase in resolution over its predecessor’s 24.2 megapixels and enabling 7K 60p internal RAW video recording.

Performance and Shooting Speed

It achieves a burst shooting speed of up to 40fps with the electronic shutter, maintaining continuous autofocus and auto-exposure. Using the mechanical shutter, it reaches 12fps, matching the high-end EOS R3. The camera captures up to 20 pre-continuous frames (in RAW, JPEG, or HEIF) before the shutter is fully pressed.

Buffer and Stabilisation

The R6 Mark III provides a 150-shot uncompressed RAW buffer when using CFexpress cards, doubling the capacity of the R6 Mark II. Combined image stabilisation offers up to 8.5 stops of compensation through the synergy of in-body and lens-based stabilisation systems.

ISO Range and Video Capabilities

The standard ISO range extends from 100 to 51200 and can be expanded further to ISO 50–102400. Video performance includes internal 7K recording at 60P or 30P with Open Gate enabled, 4K up to 120P, and 2K up to 180P. It also delivers oversampled 4K/60p and introduces 4K/60p UVC live streaming for the first time on a full-frame EOS camera.
